Ports of Jersey has revealed since taking over the airport in 2015 it has spent an average of £23,000 a year maintaining and upgrading the roads between the airport roundabout and the terminal buildings.

The figures were revealed in response to a question from Deputy Raluca Kovacs, which also confirmed about £129,000 was spent on traffic calming and safety measures in the past two years.

These include new pedestrian crossings, refreshing lane markings and moves to reduce vehicle speeds including speed cushions and chicanes.

The response said the changes followed vehicles entering the drop-off zone at speeds of up to 45mph, three times the limit, and because of ongoing unsafe driving.
