Sports students treat Jason Derulo dancers on tour
University of WolverhamptonSports therapy students at the University of Wolverhampton were able to test their skills on professional dancers taking part in musician Jason Derulo's The Last Dance World Tour.
Going backstage at the Utilita Arena Birmingham, the students carried out supervised pre-show treatments to the tour's dancers, ahead of their high-energy performance.
They all received incredibly positive feedback from the dancers and were able to stay and watch the show afterwards, the university said.
"It was nice to know that we had helped them in some way to be able to perform. I was really proud," third-year old student Anthea Beckford said.
She said she used to show her daughter videos of dance duo Les Twins, who were taking part in the show, to inspire her when she was starting out in dance, and seeing them live was really special.
Lecturer Aisha James-Smith said: "It's important for students to see that there are so many pathways beyond the typical routes.
"Performance and touring environments are intense and demanding, but incredibly rewarding, and the students really rose to the challenge."
The degree course in sport and exercise therapy equips students with skills across sport including performance, rehabilitation and elite environments, the university added.
