Josie Trounson collects her order of pasties that she placed with Prince William

A grandmother who placed an order for pasties with Prince William said she was "flabbergasted" after learning of her encounter with royalty.

The prince spoke to Josie Trounson on the phone on Thursday while he was in Helston, Cornwall, to celebrate St Piran's Day and meet with communities dealing with the aftermath of Storm Goretti.

He took her call while behind the counter at Gear Farm Pasty Shop but mistakenly called her "Juicy" rather than Josie.

Trounson said she could not believe it after she was told the man who took her order for 10 frozen pasties and five cooked ones was the prince.

Prince William takes a pasty order on Cornwall visit

She was told Prince William took her order as she collected it later in the day from the shop founded by David Webb.

"I had absolutely no idea whatsoever - I often go to Gear Farm to get pasties, but I did go once and there was no pasties left," she said.

"I now always telephone, and particularly with it being St Piran's Day, I thought I must definitely phone.

"I knew it wasn't David or his daughter, as they are usually who I speak to, I just thought they were busy and had extra staff on for St Piran's Day.

"I was asked my name, I said Josie, and as I know now Prince William said juicy.

"I said, 'No, it's not Juicy, it's Josie!'."

She said shop staff asked her if she knew who took her order and she replied "a gentleman did".

"They said, 'Would you be surprised to hear it was Prince William that took your order?'.

"I couldn't believe it - I was flabbergasted."

The prince realised his error and responded by saying "the pasties will be juicy"

She said the county had had "a rough time" as it dealt with the aftermath of winter storms.

"I think it's just good that there is something really hilarious being chatted about and making everybody hoot," she said.

"We have a son who lives in Australia and they heard about it yesterday evening.

"Then my granddaughters went to school and it was obviously on the news and they said, 'Oh that's my grandma'.

"Everybody is saying dear Juicy to me - I had a nephew that used to call me Josephiney and I quite like that - but I think Juicy from the future king sounds a great idea."

Realising his error, the prince said: "Sorry Josie, I thought you said Juicy... the pasties will be juicy."
