A woman suffered a serious injury in a crash on the A1(M) in North Yorkshire on New Year's Day, police have said.

Four people were taken to hospital after the crash involving a white Hyundai i20 hatchback, which happened at about 07:15 GMT near Leeming Bar.

A woman in her 20s sustained a "serious hand injury" in the incident, and all four people involved were now in a stable condition, according to North Yorkshire Police.

Anyone who saw what happened, or who had dashcam footage of the incident, was asked to to contact police.
