Taxi driver sentenced over pedestrian's death
GoogleA taxi driver has been sentenced after pleading guilty to causing the death of a pedestrian by careless driving.
Mohammad Khan, 74, struck and killed Marcin Golder, 43, on Armthorpe Road, in Doncaster, in the early hours of 4 February 2024.
Golder was near the junction with Sandall Beat Lane when he was hit by Khan's Fiat at about 01:30 GMT.
Khan, of Lawn Road, Town Fields, Doncaster, was given a six-month prison sentence, suspended for a year, at Doncaster Magistrates' Court on 6 May and ordered to complete 200 hours of unpaid work. He was also disqualified from driving for a year.
At the time of the crash, South Yorkshire Police said Golder had died at the scene and that the taxi driver stopped and helped officers with the investigation.
