Fire service leader roles advertised amid inquiry
SHROPSHIRE FIRE AND RESCUE SERVICEShropshire Fire and Rescue Service is trying to recruit two senior roles amid an investigation into two leaders over claims of "deeply concerning" WhatsApp messages.
Two vacancies for temporary assistant chief fire officer roles based in Shrewsbury have now been posted online - offering a £108,598 salary.
Chief fire officer Simon Hardiman and his deputy Adam Matthews are accused of exchanging offensive messages about female colleagues.
A spokesperson for the fire service has said the allegations are being investigated externally and independently.
The job advert, listed on WM Jobs, asks for "inspiring and inclusive leaders" to apply for the role over a period of up to 12 months.
It outlines the launch of the 2025 to 2029 Community Risk Management Plan (CRMP) in which the new leaders will play a pivotal part in shaping.
In May, Sam Burton joined the team as interim assistant chief fire officer (ACFO).
