Man charged after Manchester mosque incident
PA MediaA man has been charged after a incident at a Manchester mosque.
Darren Connor, 55, from Stockport, has been charged with possession of an offensive weapon and possession of class B drugs after entering Manchester Central mosque on 24 February.
A second man who had also been arrested in relation to the incident will face no further action, police have said.
Connor will appear at Manchester and Salford Magistrates Court on Friday, 27 February.
The charge comes after police were called to Manchester Central Mosque on Upper Park Road in Victoria Park, Rusholme, at about 20:40 GMT on Tuesday to reports that two men were acting suspiciously.
Manchester Central Mosque said volunteers had challenged a man, after he had walked in during Taraweeh prayers, and called the police.
