A man who discovered seven Evri parcels left abandoned by his bins has been reuniting them with their rightful owners.

Andy Baker, from Netley Abbey near Southampton, said he found the parcels on Sunday evening while on the way to his local pub before taking them inside to protect them from the rain.

He then posted to Facebook about his discovery, with all but one of them having since been given to their owners.

A spokesperson for Evri said the courier involved "will no longer be delivering on behalf of Evri".

"It looked like someone had fly-tipped stuff," said Mr Baker. "When I looked a bit more closely, they were all parcels from Evri, the courier."

Friends in the pub suggested he should post about his discovery to the local Facebook group.

"There were actually lots of people, not just me, who had had parcels dumped all on that Sunday," he said. "Four or five in the same area."

He said he tried to contact Evri the morning after he found them and was asked to enter the tracking numbers.

"I did that seven times to find some of the parcels were still with the sender - clearly not, because they were on my kitchen table," he said.

Others were marked as "delivered to the correct address".

Mr Baker said he wanted "to be kind" in the run up to Christmas

He said after seeing the post, two people came to collect their parcels on Monday afternoon - after he asked for proof of address.

"The remainder, apart from one, I've hand delivered," he said, adding that he plans on delivering the last package later on Wednesday.

"They were really pleased," he said. "I've had some positive feedback.

"I've lived here since 2010. Netley is a really lovely area, with very kind people, and I just want to equally be kind, particularly with Christmas coming up."

In a statement, Evri said the overwhelming majority of their couriers provided an excellent service to its customers.
