People and dogs rescued after cliff collapses

Rescue teams attended the scene

A number of people were rescued after they became trapped at the top of a cliff that collapsed.

Part of the cliff in King Edward Crescent, Newquay, Cornwall, collapsed at about 14:55 GMT leaving five people and two dogs trapped.

Coastguard teams as well as Devon & Cornwall Police attended the scene and closed the footpath to the public.

Officer said the people were rescued and people should avoid the area for their own safety.
