Northampton v Kettering tickets 'set to sell out'

Match tickets have almost sold out for Kettering Town versus Northampton Town, despite only going on sale on Friday afternoon.

Northampton Town Football Club posted on Facebook and said "there are very few tickets available for the Emirates FA Cup tie" which takes place on Saturday, 2 November.

The club said season ticket seats would be held until 17:00 BST on Friday 25 October, after which point any seats not purchased would be made available.

Season ticket holders were offered reduced price tickets ranging from £5 to £20, with general admission prices ranging from £7 to £22.

Seventh-tier Kettering will make the 17-mile (27 km) trip to Northampton Town's football ground, Sixfields Stadium, with kick-off at 17:30 GMT.

"Sixfields is set to be a sell out for the tie. Thank you for your amazing support!" posted Northampton Town.

The match is also being shown on BBC Two.

Tickets are being sold via the ticket office and ntfcdirect.co.uk.

The Kettering Town owner, George Akhtar, has thanked fans for "the overwhelming response to the FA Cup draw".

He said it was "more than I could have dreamed of in my first year as owner of this great football club."

He appealed to fans who wanted tickets to be calm and patient with volunteers and stewards.

He said: "We recognise that some may be upset at missing out of tickets, but I truly would like you to understand it is not intentional against any person or indeed, any groups of fans. If I had my way, I would take every single Poppies fan and create the best atmosphere we have seen in years but that is impossible."

He added that further advice on buying tickets would be published soon.
