coffeegal/BBC Weather WatchersSkies across Kent and Sussex were lit up by the Northern Lights overnight.
The natural phenomenon - known as the Aurora Borealis - is the result of solar eruptions sending particles towards the Earth and interacting with particles in the atmosphere.
It is most visible near the Arctic Circle, but during times of high solar activity it can be seen in other areas.
On Monday night, the Northern Lights were photographed in Selsey in West Sussex and along the Kent coast in Birchington-on-Sea, Whitstable and Lynsted.
