Government scheme aims to tackle skills shortage
BBCA government project aims to address a shortage of skills across industries including childcare, healthcare, construction and green energy.
The Government of Jersey said it was looking for accredited training providers to deliver the on-island training for the Skills Development Scheme.
Priority skills were identified after the scheme's panel met on 20 August.
They included childminder qualifications, specialist culinary skills, general roofing and solar or PV Installation, low-carbon heating system design and installation, analysis skills and data science, healthcare assistance, historic property management and scaffolding.
The government said the scheme would help people gain qualifications and upskill without needing to leave Jersey.
It said the scheme would look to give people access to qualifications and pathways, including short pathways, diplomas and apprenticeships.
It added: "The Skills Development Scheme will address critical labour and capability gaps that constrain Jersey's economic growth, support for major infrastructure (including the New Hospital), and delivery of the Government's Carbon Neutral Roadmap."
