Car passenger dies following two-vehicle crash
GoogleA car passenger in her 90s has died following a crash involving two vehicles.
Hertfordshire Police said the collision - between a silver Kia Picanto and a grey BMW 118i M Sport car - happened on White Hill, Rickmansworth, near Mount Vernon Hospital, at about 15:00 GMT on Tuesday.
The driver of the Kia, a woman in her 60s, was airlifted to hospital with life-threatening injuries, where she remained, the force said.
It said the BMW driver, a 22-year-old man from Watford, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, causing serious injury, driving over the limit of a specified drug and possession of cannabis.
He remains under arrest in hospital.
Emergency services, including fire, ambulance and air ambulance, all attended the scene and the passenger was pronounced dead at the scene.
Her next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers, police said.
The force appealed for anyone with information to come forward, including sharing dashcam footage.
