Man seriously hurt in attack outside pub

A man was seriously injured by an attack outside a bar.

The victim, in his 30s, was attacked on Three Tuns Lane in Formby, outside the Wall of Fame pub, Merseyside Police said.

He was found with injuries to his head and body and was taken to hospital.

The force said the man was in a serious but stable condition, and that a second man in his 30s - who was also attacked - has been discharged after treatment.

Det Insp Sarah Wilkinson said: "We are still piecing together exactly what happened and why.

"At this early stage, I'd urge any witnesses who have not yet come forward to do so as soon as possible. We are determined to do all we can to find those responsible.

"If you saw anything, know anything, or were passing by at the time, pass on any CCTV, dashcam, or doorbell footage as this may provide vital evidence."
