Sister Sledge are the final act to join the bill for the new two-day seaside festival

Disco group Sister Sledge have been announced as the final act on the bill for a new two-day seaside music festival.

Summer Fest at the Beach will take place on 6 and 7 June on the beach at Weston-super-Mare.

The seaside town previously hosted a large music event, T4 on the Beach, between 2005 and 2012.

Joining Sister Sledge on stage at the weekend will be Craig David, Blue, Sophie Ellis-Bextor, Madness and Razorlight.

The former T4 on the Beach event drew tens of thousands of people to Weston-super-Mare, but the event folded in 2013 due to a shortage of ticket sales.

Organisers say more than 46,000 people have registered interest in attending the new event, and 15,000 tickets have already been sold for the first day.

Founder Ian Rogers, who also runs Solihull Summer Fest, said the full line-up is a big milestone for the festival.

"Weston has a genuine history of hosting huge music moments," he said.

"Announcing the final act and completing the line-up feels like a real moment for the town and the wider region.

"The reaction so far shows there's a strong demand for something of this scale on the seafront again."
