Olympic medallist thanks Grantham for support

Olympic bronze medallist Lewis Davey has thanked everyone back home in Grantham for supporting him.

The runner was part of the GB quartet with Alex Haydock-Wilson, Matt Hudson-Smith and Charlie Dobson who won bronze in the 4x400m relay final in Paris on Saturday.

Davey said he “really appreciated” the support back home in Grantham and “had a lot of love for the place”.

The Grantham-bred sprinter previously won a gold medal in the 4x400m relay at the European Championships in Munich in 2022 and silver and bronze medals at the 2023 World Championships in Budapest.

Davey said: "I come from a place called Grantham and I have a lot of love for the place and I've got a lot of people there that are behind me and supporting me and I like that a lot.

"I really appreciate it and so yeah, I do want to thank everyone back home. Everyone's supporting me."

Of the race itself, Davey said: “It was kind of a battle going round the Botswana guy on the back straight. He kind of came back on me but that’s usually how it goes in the 4x400. You battle it out with someone."
