Indian festival celebrates cohesion - organiser

A festival showcasing rich Indian heritage has "celebrated cohesion", the organiser has said.

Hundreds attended the second Indian Cultural Festival on the comedy carpet in front of Blackpool Tower on Sunday.

Dance, yoga and henna sessions took place at the free event organised by the Fylde Coast Hindu Society and supported by Blackpool Council.

Chirag Khajuria, chairman of the Fylde Coast Hindu Society, said he was hoping it will become an annual event.

The Fylde Coast Hindu Society was set up 25 years ago.

Mr Khajuria, who masterminded the festival, said: "It was designed for everyone to come together.

He said "all nationalities and all faiths" did unite for the event and that is what made it "so special".

Mr Khajuria is now hoping to get funding for next year to build on this year's success and make it "even bigger and better" in 2025.
