Swimming lessons for children with disability begin
PA MediaMore children with disabilities in Devon will soon be able to have one-to-one swimming sessions.
National disability swimming charity Level Water has launched lessons with local teachers in Dartmouth with sessions in Ivybridge and Totnes due in the coming months.
The charity is working with Dartmouth Indoor Pool Trust to deliver the sessions which one student's father said had grown her ability and confidence in the water.
Ian Thwaites, chief executive of Level Water, said the goal was "to reach as many children across Devon as we can, giving every child equal access to the confidence, joy and freedom that comes from learning to swim".
Level Water has already partnered with teams at the Aveton Gifford Community Pool, Riverside Leisure Centre, Plymouth Life Centre, SMART Swim Centre and Swim Devon to deliver the one-to-one swimming sessions.
Thwaites said: "Being able to give back, by supporting children with disabilities in the same communities that support us, means a huge amount to our whole team."
