A baby girl has been seriously injured after a van struck three stationary vehicles in a hit-and-run crash on a motorway slip road, police have said.

Officers are looking for the driver and passenger who ran away after their white Ford Transit van hit two cars and a HGV vehicle, at the Junction 29 slip road off the M6 northbound, at Bamber Bridge near Preston, at about 16:25 GMT on Friday.

Lancashire Police said the baby, who had been in one of the parked cars, was taken to hospital where she is being treated.

They added that the two van occupants who ran off may have serious injuries, saying "we are concerned for their welfare".

Sgt Ben Elliott, from Lancashire Police, appealed for the men to come forward and asked for witnesses or anyone with dashcam or CCTV footage to get in touch.

"A baby has been left seriously injured following this collision and our thoughts remain with her and her loved ones at this time," he added.
