Traffic warning as months of gas works begin
GoogleDrivers are being warned they may face delays as gas works begin in Salisbury.
Temporary traffic lights will be in place on Wilton Road for 20 weeks between the junction of Gorringe Road and Windsor Street.
SGN Gas said bus stop suspensions would be in operation during the Wiltshire works and delays were "possible."
A spokesperson for the company said: "We appreciate that work in this area is sensitive and roadworks can be frustrating; we recognise this and are doing everything we can to get this essential work done as quickly and as safely as possible."
Phase two of the gas works will begin on 13 April and last until 10 May. During this stage, a westbound road closure will be in place on Wilton Road from the junction of Windsor Street to St Paul's Roundabout.
Diversions will be in place for drivers, with eastbound traffic and pedestrian access unaffected.
SGN GasThe SGN Gas spokesperson added: "This work is crucial to keep the gas flowing safely to homes and businesses for years to come.
"We'd like to thank everyone affected for your patience, understanding and support as we work to improve the energy infrastructure in Salisbury."
The work comes as National Highways starts the first stage of an A36 scheme this month.
The project will see new adaptive traffic signals installed over 11 weeks at the Castle and St Mark's roundabouts.
Upgrades at St Paul's roundabout will follow between June and July, ahead of essential resurfacing work at the Castle and St Paul's roundabouts and Wilton Road.
