The streets of west London are awash with bright colours for Carnival weekend

The streets of west London were brimming with brightly-coloured outfits earlier as one of the largest street festivals in the world, Notting Hill Carnival, held its main parade.

One million people are estimated to attend the event each August Bank Holiday weekend, with revellers pulling out all the stops to embody the celebration of Caribbean arts and culture.

The party began with steel drums on Saturday evening, then children took over Sunday's parade. Monday sees the centrepiece, the Adult's Day parade, conclude the event.
