Asparagus used to predict 2026 political 'carnage'

A woman, who has claimed to be able to see into the future using asparagus, has made her predictions for 2026, including political "carnage" for the UK.

Jemima Packington, a practicing asparamancer, said she is able to make her predictions by grabbing "a handful of asparagus" which she then casts onto a flat surface.

Ms Packington grew up in Evesham, Worcestershire, known as a growing hotspot for the sought after vegetable.

Speaking to BBC Hereford & Worcester, she explained the tossed asparagus "makes patterns that I'm able to interpret".

She said she was able to make specific predictions by being able to "concentrate on topics", such as politics and the World Cup 2026.

Asked about the summer's sport, she was not able to say if any of the home nations would bring football home but did predict a positive outcome.

"It's just saying UK football will have a tremendous World Cup," she said.

However, the world of politics could be in for quite the shake up, according to Ms Packington who now lives in Somerset.

"All the same things are occurring and it's going to be carnage, basically," she warned.

"The peasants are going to revolt, there's going to be a regime change on the way here in the UK and there's going to be so many political resignations, it's going to be breath-taking."

And while all this is said to be happening, the world of music is also set to revert back to the 1940s and 1950s, she claimed.

She said K-Pop would be out and swing pop would be in.

"I think that's wonderful and I think we're seeing more and more now younger artists who are looking for a new direction.

"They have discovered the rhythms and the jazziness of music from the 40s and 50s," she added.

And finally, she predicted the "wonderful British Asparagus Festival", taking place in Evesham in April 2026, would be "even more successful than usual".

"It could be really, really topical and really surprising," she said.
