A woman has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving after a pedestrian was fatally struck by a van.

The pedestrian, a woman in her 70s was hit by a white van on the A44 at Chadbury, near Evesham in Worcestershire, on Monday at about 07:40 GMT. She was declared dead at the scene, police said. Her family were being supported by specially-trained officers.

The arrested woman, 54, was released under investigation.

Sgt Emma Breay said: "We are keen to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision, may have dashcam footage of the incident, or saw a woman walking along the road prior to the incident."
