The Christmas day parkrun has been cancelled due to bad weather

A Christmas Day parkrun has been cancelled as organisers said the predicted strong winds and cold temperatures "are not only unpleasant, but potentially unsafe".

Weather forecasters said Christmas Day in Guernsey was likely to be cloudy with rain or sleet possible at first.

Winds would be from east to northeasterly gale force 6 to 7, and reach speeds of 45mph (72km/h), they added.

Despite Guernsey's festive 5km (3.1 miles) run at Pembroke Bay, Vale, being called off, organisers said they expected the normal Saturday run to go ahead as planned.
