Burglar jailed for three years after stealing car
West Mercia PoliceA man has been jailed for more than three years after stealing a car in a late night house burglary in Worcestershire.
Reiss Ali, 24, of Pershore Road, Birmingham, pleaded guilty on Friday to burglary and theft of a motor vehicle in Worcester, during a hearing at Shrewsbury Crown Court.
He was sentenced to three years and four months for the burglary, with a15-month sentence for theft of a motor vehicle. The terms will run concurrently. Ali was also banned from driving for six years and eight months.
"This type of crime has a deep and far-reaching impact on the community," Det Con Jordan Small, of West Mercia Police, said.
"The results of this investigation reiterate that police will fully investigate these offences and seek justice for those impacted.
"Those seeking to cause harm in Shropshire will be hunted and placed before the courts to answer for their actions."
During the hearing the court was told how in the late evening of 26 August, he broke into a property on Castle Close causing damage to the patio doors.
Once inside the property Ali located the keys to two Volkswagen cars, before fleeing the scene in one of the vehicles.
