Murder charge after man found dead in flat
Leicester Media OnlineA man has been charged with murder after another man was found dead in a flat.
Leicestershire Police said it was called at 11:46 GMT on Tuesday to a flat in George Toon Court, off Brook Street in Syston, where 49-year-old Simon Geary was found unresponsive and pronounced dead at the scene.
The force said Graham Howard, 49, of George Toon Court, had been charged with murder.
He is due to appear at Leicester Magistrates' Court on Friday.
The force added a scene would be in place for a number of days to allow specialist teams to carry out inquiries.
Leicestershire PoliceIn a statement released by police on Wednesday, Mr Geary's family described him as a "kind, caring soul", and added: "Simon was a much-loved son and brother.
"The support he has given our family will never be forgotten.
"He was a kind, caring soul who served his country in the Army and we are so proud of what he achieved in his career.
"We would ask the public to please respect our privacy at this very difficult time."
