Stretch of road shut until 2027 as works continue
Wokingham Borough CouncilPart of work on a major roads scheme that will see a stretch closed until early 2027 is due to start.
Wokingham Borough Council said Easthampstead Road, between Star Lane and Heathlands Road, will be shut from Monday with a diversion in place for vehicles for work on the South Wokingham Distributor Road.
Where Easthampstead Road meets the distributor road, there will be a three-way signalised junction to provide access to and from the northern part of Easthampstead Road.
The work is taking place to allow safe access for new homes that are being built in the area.
Other work to reconfigure the junction of Easthampstead Road and Heathlands Road started in mid-November, with the new link road expected to open by late May.
In a statement, the council said: "We're doing what we can to bring forward the completion date of the link road to minimise the overlap with the closure on Easthampstead Road. We will provide a more precise opening date for the link road closer to the time."
