Man pleads guilty to killing mother in family home

A man has admitted killing his mother at their family home in East Yorkshire.

Helen Harrison, 59, was discovered fatally injured in Aspen Close, Market Weighton, on 5 March 2023.

Rick Parker, 42, was originally charged with murder but, following medical assessments, it was deemed he had diminished responsibility at the time of the offence.

He pleaded guilty to manslaughter, and a further charge of actual bodily harm in connection with an assault on his stepfather, when he appeared via video-link at Hull Crown Court last week. He is due to be sentenced at the same court on 9 April.
