A third person has appeared in court charged with the attempted murder of a man in his 30s.

Cumbria Police said officers were called to Edward Street just before 03:30 GMT on 29 March over reports a man had suffered stab wounds. He was taken to hospital and later discharged.

Leon Ingledow, 21, appeared at the magistrates' court in Carlisle earlier and was remanded in custody ahead of his next appearance at the city's Crown Court on 1 May.

Ingledow, of Carlisle, was previously arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent. Two other men, aged 46 and 29, have also been charged with attempted murder.

The force added it was keen to hear from anyone who might have seen a grey Seat Arona, registration PY23 OES, in the area around the time of the incident.
