Bus damages side of house in crash

Inquiries into the full circumstances surrounding the crash are ongoing

A bus has crashed into the side of a house, causing severe damage.

The crash on Armstrong Road in Benwell, Newcastle, happened at about 22:30 GMT on Friday, Northumbria Police said.

There were no passengers on the bus and the driver was taken to hospital to be checked over. Nobody inside the property was injured but the exterior of the building has been damaged.

A Northumbria Police spokesperson said a section of the road was closed and a cordon was put in place.

Inquiries into the full circumstances surrounding the crash were ongoing, they added.
