Seventy homes evacuated after ordnance garden find

Residents of 70 homes were evacuated after a suspected unexploded ordnance was found in a back garden.

Lancashire Police said a cordon was put in place after the find just after 17:00 BST on Sunday in Haws Hill, Carnforth.

The force said the bomb squad attended and "removed the device which was found to be expended not live".

A force spokesman said that "everyone was able to return home" at about 19:30.
