Old sodium lights are being replaced by more energy-efficient LED versions

Parking along a busy main road in Port Erin will be suspended for a week to allow for the replacement of ageing street lighting.

Church Street is home to several businesses including retail, hospitality and professional services.

Parking will be suspended from 06:00 GMT on Monday until 18:00 on 20 December during the work, which will be carried out by Manx Utilities.

Port Erin Commissioners recently received approval from the Treasury to borrow £215,000 for the project to replace 294 sodium lights with new LED bulbs.

The new lights will help the village comply with the island's dark sky scheme by keeping light pollution to a minimum.
