More than 100 people have signed up to take part in an event in January to highlight the problem of homelessness.

The Big Skipton Sleep Out challenges islanders to spend a night sleeping outdoors to raise awareness and money for hidden homelessness in Guernsey.

Organisers said money raised will go to Caritas Guernsey's Community Project, which aims to provide modular housing and support for the homeless.

The sleep out will take place on 23 January 2026 at the KGV Memorial Fields, participants can register on the Skipton International website.

The inaugural event in 2025 raised more than £40,000 with 150 people taking part.

Susan Fouquier, chief executive at Skipton International, said: "Secure housing sits at the heart of what we do at Skipton. When that stability isn't there, the impact affects every part of someone's life."

Graham Merfield, chair of Caritas Guernsey, said the early surge in registrations showed islanders wanted to create a "supportive, dignified environment for people who need it most".

He said: "Last year's funds made a real impact, and with the continued support of islanders, we can turn our vision into reality."
