TJ Bunn was sentenced at Leeds Crown Court after admitting four charges

A "dangerous" domestic abuser who subjected a former partner to repeated attacks has been jailed.

TJ Bunn was sentenced after he admitted a string of offences against the woman carried out over a three-year period while they were in a relationship.

The 32-year-old from Dewsbury was jailed at Leeds Crown Court on Friday for four years and 11 months after he pleaded guilty to offences including intentional strangulation and assault. He was also given an indefinite restraining order.

West Yorkshire Police praised the bravery of Bunn's victim, who the force said came forward to report his offences after he was jailed for unconnected matters.

Det Sgt Rebecca Westerman said: "I hope the sentence he has received will be of some comfort to her and give her some closure.

"I also hope it will encourage other victims of controlling and coercive behaviour to come forward and report these matters, so they can be thoroughly investigated, and perpetrators can be brought to justice."
