Prisoner admits attempting to murder fellow inmate
BBCA prisoner has admitted attempting to murder another inmate at a top security prison.
Duncan Heaton, 53, appeared via videolink at Hull Crown Court earlier accused of attempting to murder Andong Abong Ashu at HMP Full Sutton, near York.
The attack is said to have happened in May 2024.
The court heard the defendant is also charged with attempting to murder another prisoner, this time in Wakefield Prison in October 2025.
PA MediaHeaton appeared for the five-minute long hearing sat behind a desk at a room at HMP Wakefield, in West Yorkshire.
Earlier this week, he appeared before magistrates in Leeds accused of attempting to murder David Minto in Wakefield last year, and he was remanded in custody to appear at Leeds Crown Court on 16 April.
Judge John Thackray KC heard on Friday that the two cases will be brought together and fixed another hearing date at Hull Crown Court for 20 April.
