Seventh baker leaves Great British Bake Off

Spoiler alert: the story will reveal who the seventh baker evicted from the show is.

The seventh baker has left The Great British Bake Off tent after failing to impress the judges during the show's first-ever meringue-themed week.

During Tuesday's episode, the bakers were tasked with making mini meringue tarts for the signature challenge, souffles for the technical and a meringue ice-cream cake for the showstopper.

Business development executive Toby was named star baker by presenter Noel Fielding, and co-host Alison Hammond informed hairdresser Lesley that she would be going home.

Lesley, who is 59 and from Eynsford in Kent, told BBC Radio Kent she had "had a blast", but "knew it was going to be me because I didn't have a great week".

She said: "You get used to the cameras but the pressure is real. I hope I've done everyone proud.

"The highlight was meeting judge Paul [Hollywood], also from Kent, and all the other bakers, and everything that I've learned about myself and baking."

She said Hollywood was "a lovely guy, but he made the right choice, my meringue was terrible".

"I do like making meringues, believe it or not," she added.

"It's all about nice firm peaks and nice chewy meringue in the middle."
