Police have appealed for information after a man was seriously injured in a hit-and-run in Wigston.

Leicestershire Police was called to Oadby Road just after 06:40 GMT on Wednesday after a pedestrian was hit by a car, which the force said did not stop at the scene.

The man was taken to Leicester Royal Infirmary for treatment.

Road closures were in place while inquiries were carried out, but they have since been lifted, police confirmed.

Officers have appealed for anyone who witnessed the crash or who may have dashcam footage to contact the force.
