Traffic on a major road was held at a standstill after a seven-car crash, National Highways said on social media.

It said the collision happened on the A38 westbound in Devon between Westover and Deep Lane near Plymouth on Tuesday evening, and traffic was stopped.

It added this led to 45 minute delays and up to five miles of congestion. Two highway patrols worked at the scene to "clear the vehicles" and the road has since been reopened.

Devon and Cornwall Police said nobody involved suffered any life-changing or life-threatening injuries.
