Claremont Farm said it had misplaced a Halloween prop

A woman who was walking her dog in a local beauty spot thought she had stumbled on a sinister and gruesome crime scene - only to find it was a misplaced Halloween prop.

The unsuspecting dogwalker believed she had found a severed human foot in a binbag on the edge of a fishing pond in Claremont Farm in Bebington, Wirral, and was so concerned she called the police.

Andrew Pimbley, director of the farm, told the BBC: "This was one of our feet, but we couldn't find it this year, and it's somehow got somewhere else and ended up in this bag."

Merseyside Police said it had received a call on Sunday and sent a patrol to Old Clatterbridge Road, only to find the item was a "prosthetic limb".

'Very good replica'

Pimbley said: "Obviously when the police officer did arrive and fished the foot out of the bin bag, they realised it wasn't an actual foot from an actual person.

"But the police officer did say that it was a very good replica of a human foot."

He said the farm runs a pumpkin-picking event at Halloween each year and keeps decorations and props to use in its cafe and around the site.

"So it is our foot, but I don't know how it managed to get in that bin bag. I really don't," said Pimbley.

"It's been disposed of properly and yeah I don't want to see that foot again to be quite honest."
