Police investigating Kirkcaldy rape say no crime took place

Detectives investigating the reported rape of a woman in Kirkcaldy on Sunday say that no crime was committed.

Police Scotland said officers had carried out "extensive" investigations, including looking at CCTV footage and door-to-door inquiries.

The incident had been reported in the Abbots Mill area of the Fife town between 02:00 and 05:00 on Sunday.

Det Insp Kieran Marsh said: "We are satisfied we are no longer investigating criminality. I wish to thank the local community for their assistance."
