A proposal has been submitted to Derby City Council for a new purpose-built medical centre on land next to an existing facility.

The planning application seeks to build a three-storey centre on a vacant site in Hollybrook Way, Littleover, next to Hollybrook Medical Centre.

Included in the centre would be several operating theatres, consultation rooms and treatment rooms, as well as a 31-space car park which would have accessible spaces and cycle parking facilities.

Planning documents say the new facility would "improve access to a community based secondary care provider for the local community, helping to meet growing demand and reduce pressure on nearby surgeries and hospitals".

"The design supports flexible use for evolving healthcare needs," the documents said.

"The development will provide a modern healthcare facility offering nurse

consultations, minor treatments, teaching and supporting administrative functions."

Also included in the proposal are a reception area, waiting areas, facilities for staff, along with learning and support spaces.
