Parts of the Monsal Trail are expected to be closed on weekdays until the end of February

Parts of a popular walking trail in Derbyshire will be closed on weekdays until the end of February to allow safety work to take place.

The Peak District National Park Authority said access to the Monsal Trail will be restricted while work is carried out on rocks and trees.

The main stretches affected are Headstone Cutting to Monsal Dale Viaduct including Headstone Tunnel and well as Monsal Dale Viaduct to Millers Dale.

The authority said: "These temporary closures will only take place during weekdays; the trail will be fully open at weekends."

The authority asked visitors to follow any signage and thanked people for their patience while the work takes place.
