Emergency services are at the scene of an incident in which a lorry went into a river in the New Forest.

It happened shortly after 13:00 GMT off Ringwood Road in North Gorley.

A Hampshire Constabulary spokesperson said: "Emergency services are on scene and the road has been closed so we advise people to please avoid the area at this time."

Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire & Rescue Service, which has rescued several stranded motorists in the area due to flooding across the day, confirmed its crews were in attendance supporting the police operation.

Earlier rescues included a van submerged in flood water on Allbrook Hill, Eastleigh, and a bus stuck at Hunters Hill, Colbury.

Storm Chandra has seen the region hit by strong winds and heavy rain, with flood warnings and travel disruption across Hampshire and Dorset.
