A hub offering support to vulnerable children and families – including a high tech sensory space and health services – has opened in Bradford city centre.

The Bevan Family Hub on Piccadilly launched its programme on Friday with a Well Baby weighing clinic.

Other activities on offer at the centre include read and rhyme, baby massage, an infant feeding drop-in, a sensory space with lights and sounds and messy play.

The hub was created by Bradford Children and Families Trust, Bradford Council and Bevan, a social enterprise health service.

Councillor Sue Duffy, Bradford Council's portfolio holder for children and families, said she wanted Bradford to be a place "where all our children and young people are given the best start in life".

"The new Family Hub is perfectly situated to support some of our district's most vulnerable families, while providing a welcoming environment and friendly support in a location easily accessible to all", she said.

Bradford Children and Families Trust's family navigators would also be available for parents and carers to talk about parenthood, child development and wellbeing, Duffy added.
