Man dies in crash on bypass

A man has died following a two-car crash on the A16 near Louth.

Lincolnshire Police said the collision happened on the Fotherby bypass, at the junction for North Elkington.

It was reported shortly after 04:30 GMT and involved a silver Ford Focus and a blue BMW.

A 78-year-old man, who was travelling in the Ford, was pronounced dead at the scene. A second man, who was in the BMW, was taken to hospital.

The road reopened at about 16:30, according to the force.
