Police launch murder investigation after death of man, 49
Police ScotlandPolice have launched a murder investigation after a man was found dead in his Glasgow home last week.
The body of David Smith was discovered last Tuesday evening at a property in Glenraith Square in the city's Craigend area, after concerns were raised.
The 49-year-old's death is being treated as suspicious following the results of a post-mortem examination and an investigation is ongoing.
Police said they were examining CCTV footage and conducting door-to-door inquiries.
There will also be a continued police presence throughout the local area.
Det Ch Insp Laura Young, of Police Scotland's major investigations team said: "Extensive inquiries are being carried out, and we are working to establish the full circumstances of what happened in the days before David was found deceased.
"This includes officers going door to door in the local area, as well as thorough analysis of the available CCTV footage from the area."
She said anyone with any information - or who saw suspicious activity in the area between 13 and 17 March - should get in touch.
Ch Insp Jon Watters, the local area commander, said: "We understand the impact this will have on the local community and we would like to thank everyone for their help so far with our inquiries.
"There will be a continued police presence in the area and I would urge anyone who may have concerns or information to approach our officers."
An online portal has also been set up to encourage members of the public to submit information directly to officers.
