Anti-social sailors risk being prosecuted if they are caught exceeding speed limits on a stretch of water in north Wales.

A security camera aimed at cutting "reckless" behaviour has been installed on Deganwy Promenade on the Conwy estuary.

Warning signs will also be displayed, giving details of approved speeds.

A report compiled by harbour master Matthew Forbes will be discussed Conwy County Council's harbour advisory meeting next week.

The camera will "monitor activities on the river, including vessels being launched at the Beacons slipway", the report said.

"Should reckless behaviour by personal watercraft, or indeed any vessel operators be identified, then CCTV footage will be used as evidence for any potential prosecution," it added.

The same paper also said the council had received complaints about water-bike riders and other personal crafts causing "reckless behaviour and noise disturbance".

Members of the public have been encouraged to send video footage of such activity to the harbour office.

Its staff will review any material submitted, potentially using it as evidence for prosecutions.

The committee meets on 4 March.
