Chief Guide made OBE in King's New Year Honours
Girlguiding AngliaGirlguiding's Chief Guide has been appointed OBE in the King's New Year Honours.
Tracy Foster, from Peterborough, has been involved in Girlguiding since she joined the Brownies aged seven and has served in many commissioner roles in East Anglia.
Ms Foster is also a registered social worker and for the past 20 years has supported those impacted by domestic abuse.
Others honoured across Cambridgeshire include business leaders, academics and environmentalists.
She has worked in both the public and charity sectors and is currently the national domestic abuse lead at Spurgeons' children's charity.
She became Chief Guide at Girlguiding in 2023 and will hold the post for five years.
The volunteer-led group for girls and young women encourages members to discover their potential through adventures, learning and fun.
Other people in Cambridgeshire awarded honours include:
- Craig Bennett, chief executive officer, The Wildlife Trusts, is appointed OBE for services to the environment
- Prof Michael Lennard Nicolson, prof of transplant surgery at the University of Cambridge, is appointed OBE for services to kidney transplantation
- Richard James Grenville Turfitt, traffic commissioner, is appointed OBE for services to road safety and justice
- Georgina Wilson, chief executive officer, BUD Leaders, is appointed OBE for services to social enterprise
- Matthew Peter John Baker, is appointed MBE for services to technology and to wireless communications
- Peter Charles Phillimore Boardman, effects analyst, Ministry of Defence, is appointed MBE for services to defence
- Dr Ayla Frances Humphrey, associate prof in the Department for Psychiatry at the University of Cambridge, is appointed MBE for services to young people with acquired brain injuries
- Rachael Nicola Tackley, theatre consultant, producer and curator, is appointed MBE for services to the arts
- Debra Marie Scotting is awarded a BEM for services to the community in Warmington, Northamptonshire
- David John Toop is awarded a BEM for services to the community in Whittlesford, Cambridgeshire
