A 36-year-old woman has died after being hit by a car on a major road out of Edinburgh.

Police were called to the collision involving a red Ford Fiesta on the A90 near the Kirkliston slip road at Cramond Bridge at 23:10 on Monday.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene and no other injuries were reported.

The road reopened after being closed for more than 10 hours.

There were also significant rush hour delays on the M90 at the Queensferry Crossing earlier after another crash was reported to police at 06:30.

Sgt Michael Thomson, of Police Scotland, said: "Our thoughts remain with the family and friends of the woman who died at this difficult time.

"I am appealing to anyone who was driving in the area at the time and witnessed the crash to come forward with information.

"I'd also ask that those with dash-cam footage review this to see if it has captured anything of significance."
