Major resurfacing works to begin in town
GooglePlans for a major programme of resurfacing works in Brigg, starting in February, have been announced.
They include full resurfacing of several key roads in the town, aimed at addressing long-standing wear and tear, and reducing the need for repeat repairs, North Lincolnshire Council said.
Councillor Neil Poole, deputy leader and cabinet member for highways, said: "This programme has been planned and phased as part of our wider, long-term approach to maintaining and improving the highway network.
He said carrying out full resurfacing rather than short-term fixes would minimise repeat disruption and make better use of funding.
The authority said the resurfacing works would take place between 9 February and 1 March and would be carried out in stages across three areas:
- Elwes Street / Bigby Street / Bigby Road to Princes Street
- Wrawby Street / Queen Street
- Colton Street (Ash Grove to Grammar School Road)
Residents and businesses directly affected would be contacted in advance, the council said.
Council leader Rob Waltham said the authority was also planning major improvements to roads across the district.
"This investment is about improving everyday journeys and making sure people can travel around their towns and villages more smoothly and safely – we know how much this matters and know that it needs doing now," he added.
